Overview

La Petite Auberge, tucked away at 13 Rue du Hameau in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, is a gem for lovers of classic French cuisine. This unpretentious, cozy restaurant invites you into an atmosphere that recalls the warmth of a traditional French family home. The space is intimate and welcoming, striking a balance between simplicity and charm, making it ideal for both locals and visitors craving authentic tastes in a relaxed setting.

The menu reads like a love letter to French culinary staples, with specialties ranging from well-executed steaks and veal to delicate servings of foie gras and the iconic French escargots (snails). The steak Normande and Noisette de Veau stand out as dishes that showcase the kitchen’s flair for perfect cuisson and rich flavors. Accompanying these mains, the house fries—crispy and flavorful—are consistently praised by diners for their impeccable texture and seasoning, adding satisfying contrast to the richness of the meats.

Salads, such as the Goat Cheese Salad, provide a fresh balance to the heartier offerings, while dishes like beef tartare and duck pâté highlight the kitchen’s attention to traditional preparations. Reviewers often note the generous portion sizes paired with a menu that doesn't overwhelm. The wine selection is thoughtfully curated, delivering excellent pairings that elevate the entire dining experience.

What truly distinguishes La Petite Auberge is not only the quality of food but the genuine warmth of its staff. Guests repeatedly mention attentive and personable service, which infuses meals with moments of levity and connection, turning a dinner into an experience that feels more like family hospitality than typical dining. This creates a welcoming environment where Canadian tourists and locals alike feel right at home.

For those attending exhibitions or exploring the neighborhood, La Petite Auberge offers both comfort and authenticity—a place where classic French recipes are presented with care, respect, and a touch of nostalgia. Booking ahead is wise, especially for larger groups, ensuring a spot to savor memorable dishes like confit duck and lamb alongside convivial company.

In summary, La Petite Auberge is a timeless choice in Paris’s dining scene. It captures the spirit of traditional French cuisine through thoughtfully prepared dishes, a cozy and inviting space, and heartfelt service—making it a must-visit for anyone seeking genuine flavors beyond the tourist trail.

'Classic' everyday French meals. Reminds me of how france 'used to be' - the way I remember and liked it. Steaks, veal, salads, other entrées and timeless desserts are served here. I would definitely go back to try the 'next item on the menu' Simple, and good.

My visit was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The food was top-quality, with every dish showcasing the rich, authentic flavors of traditional French cuisine. You can tell a lot of care and love went into each: It felt less like a restaurant and more like being welcomed into a warm, lively family home. The vibe was cozy and inviting. The service wasn’t just attentive, it was genuinely funny and full of personality, turning our meal into a joyful and silly experience we won’t forget. They were also very kind to us Canadian tourists. Highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious French food in a place that makes you feel like part of the family.

Sorry for the lack of photos but this was probably my favorite meal in Paris over my stay. Came in with a large group of twelve people and they were very accommodating, we took over more than half the restaurant. Great Parisian vibe and you can tell it’s a local favorite. I had the Lamb and it was tender and cooked perfectly. All dishes served with French Fries family style! Fun night and great food.

Excellent restaurant, especially if you love good meat. Very fair prices and all homemade. Pity the bread isn't a bit nicer.
